The Jesus Camera Fuji X100 Or How To Learn Photography From Basics
Finally my waiting come to an end – I have the mighty X100. I learn so much about it in past months, read almost every review out there. I read about the stunning quality, the bright viewfinder and so on.. It takes my expectation very high.
And then I have it.
I go for a photo-walk. Take some pics.
And I start to realize how little I expect and how different the experience it is. In one word I was blown away!
Its all about the pictures
This photo is straight form camera! One of first I taken. Look at the sky! Look at the windows! The colors are beautifull.

Same situation here. Everything is eye catching. And framing (with virtual horizon) is fabulous. It is the best method to composite scene.

Not everything is about colors or exposure. Sometimes the photo itself is so unique that we don’t look at quality at all.

High contrast or low light – not a problem. One click at a time magic is happening.

Street photography is for X100 as water is for fishes.

Automatic panoramas are not the best I saw. Photoshop makes them much better. But! Look at this tram. Its a flaw but such a beauty and subtle that its a feature for me.

Macro is a killing feature. Just do not use f/2.0. Instead use f/4.0, make sure there’s as much light as it can and the results will amaze you.

Conclusion
I embed just a few photos. Well it was only few hours. And the camera settings is so diffirent from Canon that I will need some days maybe even weeks to feel comfortable enough to take serious pictures. But at this time I am so impress that for me the DSLR era are over. I mean for the street, journey, family, party etc. DSLRs are for studio and professional, arranged photography where mega pixels matter. For day-to-day photography this is the king.
And the final and most important thing. I’m reborn as a photographer with this camera. I stopped worry so much about quality, sharpness or exposure. I start to look at the actual moments and freezing them in time. And thats the true meaning of the photography. And thats the true meaning of the Fuji X100.
I salute to every engineer at Fujifilm that make this camera a reality!

The good news is that that feeling doesnt go away after a few days or a week. I got my X100 on the 21st of March and I have the same feeling every day. I was out shooting photos this morning before the sun came up.
I’ve shoot all my project 365 photos (apart from 3) http://bit.ly/iabMgf and all of the stuff on my street photography blog was shot with the X100 http://bit.ly/dIMbTd . The DSLR’s only come out for studio and wedding jobs now.
Good luck with it.
Derek.
